Dedicated Hosting
Just as a point of interest, most web hosting providers will offer dedicated hosting as well as virtual personal servers (vps) and reseller programs.
Reseller programs are the least expensive of the three. In essence it gives you more use of the server, but the limitations are that you may get suspended if you use too much of the resources. Also there is no root access to the server.
The VPS allows you to rent a specific portion of the server – say a quarter or half. You are guaranteed and have almost complete control over your own activities including hosting other sites, but it is more expensive the a reseller or shared program
The Dedicated server is the top dog in managed servers. You have use and root control to do as you please. You can host dozens of websites or resell hosting to others. It is more complicated for novice users particularly when your users need cPanel or WHM or when connecting to the web with the nameserver setup. The biggest drawback is the cost.
Almost all businesses are now using the internet to conduct one form of business or another. Whether it is just for email, online ordering, customer service, professionalservices, procurement, or any of a dozen uses that require a website, there still needs to be a hosting company to provide the bandwidth, memory and storage.
If you are running more than just a few websites, or if you have a large site with tons of traffic that require more bandwidth than your provider is offering, it may be time to step up to a low cost VPS (virtual personal server) or a dedicated server. You gain more control over your asset.
